What is ShotLog:
ShotLog allows you to create a project and use its name to automatically name groups of photos during capture, resulting in an organized archive with consistent file names that are easy to find, share, and manage directly from the app. You can also import existing photos and treat them as ShotLog photos.
It lets you create projects, generate clear file names already during acquisition, store everything in easy-to-find folders, and quickly share, export, or compress images. You can also create groups of projects or groups of photos to better organize the view inside the app without moving files or changing the actual folder structure.
This app is designed with a non-destructive approach to preserve your work. It will not delete, overwrite, or send your files automatically, leaving full control to you.
ShotLog is available on the Google Play.
Search for “ShotLog” or use the direct link (click here) and select Install.
The app will be downloaded and installed automatically on your device.
Once the installation is complete, open the app using its icon.
At first launch, a set of introductory screens will be shown, briefly explaining the main features.
By scrolling through the screens, you will reach the last one, where the “Start” button is available.
Selecting it confirms the launch of the app and acceptance of the terms of use and the conditions described in the Privacy Policy.
If a previous installation of ShotLog is detected on the device, the app will automatically recognize it.
In this case, an information screen will be displayed indicating:
the creation of a new file location
the path where previous data is stored
Existing files can be manually recovered or removed following the provided instructions.
The folders used by ShotLog are managed by the system and are not automatically removed during uninstallation.
This behavior is intentional and prevents accidental data loss.
When ShotLog is uninstalled, projects and photos stored in shared device folders are generally not deleted automatically.
This means that uninstalling the app does not necessarily result in data loss.
If, after reinstalling, ShotLog detects existing folders from a previous installation, it may create a new clean folder, for example:
Documents/ShotLog New
Documents/ShotLog New 2
This prevents conflicts with previous content. Old files remain accessible and can be copied using a file manager or a PC.
If you want to completely remove your data, delete all your projects first and then proceed with the standard uninstallation (long press on the app icon).
If not done beforehand, you can still access the ShotLog folder via USB or file manager and delete it manually.
To keep your data safe, it is always recommended to perform a backup before manually deleting any folders.
At first launch, ShotLog is available in Free mode.
This mode allows the use of core features, with some limitations compared to the full version.
The Pro version can be activated from the app settings by selecting “Unlock Pro version”.
This will open the purchase window of the Google Play and requires a transaction.
The price may vary depending on taxes applied in the user’s country.
The purchase is handled through Google Play and may require a Google account with a configured payment method.
Once completed, Pro features will be immediately available.
The Pro version enables advanced features, including:
creation of multiple projects
image resizing during export
application of a stamp (project name, date and time)
insertion of a customizable logo
use of a mask to hide parts of the image
These modifications are applied only to exported files:
original images are never overwritten.
The use of the app is the user’s responsibility.
It is recommended to always verify exported content before sharing, especially when sensitive data is involved.
From the Home screen, tap "New project".
You can enter the name using the keyboard or voice input. The chosen name becomes:
the project name within the app
the name of the project folder created by ShotLog
the base of the file names associated with the photos
Immediately after creating the project, ShotLog opens the camera so you can start working without unnecessary steps.
Once the camera is open—either automatically after creating a project or by tapping "Add photo" at the bottom right—you can start shooting immediately.
ShotLog automatically saves images in the correct folder and assigns consistent file names.
If you want to make files even more readable, or organize your work into clearly identifiable sections based on the file name, you can add a sequence directly from the camera menu without exiting.
You can type the name or dictate it using the microphone.
In horizontal camera mode, the capture, sequence, and microphone buttons are within easy reach, allowing you to shoot and assign sequence names quickly and without interruptions.
With an active sequence, files are saved using the following structure:
project name_sequence name_date_progressive number
inside the project folder. Clean and organized.
By tapping the thumbnail in the camera (which appears at the bottom left after taking a photo), or by opening an image within a project, you can access the main actions.
From here you can:
view photo details
zoom in
rename the file
delete unwanted shots
share or export
apply a privacy mask (ShotLog Pro)
The Mask feature allows you to cover sensitive areas of the image.
You can draw a region on the photo, adapt it to the shape or perspective, and choose whether to make it black or pixelated.
If needed, you can also save the original image without the mask—you will be asked to confirm this during the process.
ShotLog allows you to rename or delete projects at any time.
When you rename a project, ShotLog also updates:
the project folder on the device
the file name prefix of the contents inside it
From the Home screen, you can also use Import photos to create a new project starting from images already in your gallery.
Within an existing project, you can use Import more photos to add new content.
If you have many ongoing projects, you can create project groups or photo groups to keep the view more organized without modifying the actual file structure.
This is useful for maintaining additional order in your work.
ShotLog offers multiple ways to get content out of the app, depending on how you need to use it.
You can share:
With a long press on a single photo or from the photo menu:
a single photo
With a long press on a photo in the project view + selection:
only the selected photos
Using the Share/ZIP button or with a long press on a project/group:
an entire project
a group of photos
The Share/ZIP command combines direct sharing and ZIP archive creation in one place.
If you choose ZIP, ShotLog creates a practical archive ready to be sent via email, messaging apps, or used on desktop systems.
Using the Export command, ShotLog generates physical files in the device’s Download folder.
This is particularly useful when uploading images to websites, platforms, or software that require accessible file locations.
On Android, exported files may also appear in the gallery or recent files.
ShotLog stores content in clear and accessible locations on the device, making it easy to retrieve files both through a file manager and by connecting the phone to a PC.
In a standard setup, the main paths are:
Documents/ShotLog
Documents/ShotLog/Projects
Documents/ShotLog/Exports
Exports prepared for upload or external use may also be saved in folders such as:
Download/Project Name
The active file location is always visible in the app’s General Settings.
In some cases, the main ShotLog folder may change to avoid conflicts or prevent overwriting files after an accidental uninstall.
A full explanation is available in section 1 (Installation).
The file path shown in General Settings will update accordingly.
In ShotLog Pro, you can add a customizable technical overlay during sharing and export.
This is applied only to exported images and does not modify your original project files within the app.
A practical preview is available in the overlay settings menu, helping you understand how the exported images will look.
However, it is strongly recommended to generate a test export to the gallery using the Export button, so you can verify the final result before sharing or uploading images.
The overlay can include, at the bottom of the image, one or more of the following elements:
project name
sequence name
date
time
You can also add a custom logo by selecting it from your device storage, cropping it, and adjusting position, size, and transparency.
PNG files with transparent backgrounds are supported, but logos with a background are also accepted and will be shown in the editable preview.
These settings can be managed in General Settings > Overlay and logo.
Within the share/export screen, you can enable or disable individual overlay elements; this choice is applied globally for consistency.
If one or more overlay elements are active, the app will display a confirmation message before exporting.
In some cases—especially with certain settings enabled or when processing multiple images—the app may take longer to process files.
This also depends on the device hardware.
Please wait for the confirmation message at the end of the process.
From the settings, you can quickly change the app language.
In the Customize app section, you can also adjust:
date format
color palette
interface font
Refer to the extended privacy notes here.
ShotLog does not automatically send photos or data to remote servers of the developer. Images, project names, sequences, and exports remain on the device unless actions are explicitly initiated by the user.
When you choose to share content with apps, services, or external devices, the transfer depends on the operating system and the tools used. In these cases, a network connection may be required and data usage, costs, or service-specific conditions may apply.
The user remains responsible for the proper use of photographic material, compliance with privacy and confidentiality regulations, and any required permissions. The Mask feature helps cover sensitive areas but does not replace these obligations.
